Several months have passed since Awake Consciousness delivered the crushing This Is Our Time, featuring the unmistakable vocal firepower of Lena Scissorhands. Now, the metalcore band return with Get Kusali Chöd, their third single, out today alongside an official music video via Art Gates Records.
This time, the battle turns inward. Get Kusali Chöd confronts the ego and the masks we hide behind, exploring how pride, guilt and the fear of rejection can keep us trapped.
The band explain:
“The ego and its various masks are a burden we must free ourselves from in order to attain mental and emotional peace and to discover the transcendent meaning of our lives. Only by acknowledging its existence and confronting our own darkness can we overcome it and give birth to our true self.”
Moving through pain, resentment and the need for recognition, the lyrics build towards a call to break free: “Break the illusion of ego, and the chains of the mind.” It is an invitation to let go of what cannot be changed and face the present without surrendering to the past.
