"The Fortress" blends the raw energy of classic heavy metal influences like Black Sabbath with the timeless, intricate sounds of Finnish progressive rock legends such as Wigwam and Pekka Pohjola. This fusion of old-school vibes and modern metal creates an atmosphere that is both familiar and fresh.
The song explores the theme of domestic violence, and its lyrics paint a vivid picture of sisu , a Finnish concept that embodies boundless perseverance and an unwavering love for loved ones.
"We share a great love for '70s heavy metal and progressive rock. I think we managed to hit the perfect balance between modern and old-school vibes with this track" says drummer Sami Romppainen.
The song was composed and arranged by Jukka Ruostila, Heikki Kokko, and Sami Romppainen, with Jukka Ruostila also handling mixing and production. Track mastered by Jaakko Viitalähde at Virtalähde Mastering, while the striking cover art was created by Sami Romppainen.
